Vacation Reflection

Family vacations are some of the sweetest times we share.  Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, before school starts and work takes over.  We have a chance to slow down and truly reconnect with one another.  Traveling with family is about creating lasting memories, strengthening bonds and enjoying one another’s company.

When we spend time together in new places, we see each other with fresh eyes.  I had the opportunity to see my daughter Lilly, discover the wonder of God’s creation at the beach and even maybe a little on the road trip with grandma and grandpa too.  It brought me such joy to watch her laugh and explore with her cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.  These shared moments remind me that God designed families as a source of encouragement, joy, and love.

Vacation can also be a time to nurture our faith.  Whether it’s pausing to give thanks before a meal, praying together for safety on the road or marveling at a beautiful sunset as a reminder of God’s handiwork, we can keep Him at the center of our travels.  These small actions help teach our children that God isn’t just with us at church, He is present everywhere.

Family trips don’t need to be extravagant to be meaningful.  Often, it’s the simple things like shared meals, long car rides filled with stories and laughter or watching a sunset together that become the memories we cherish most.  In those moments of togetherness, we can see God’s hand at work, reminding us that His presence is with us wherever we go.
