Director of Communications & Marketing

Part-Time | 30 Hours per Week | Salaried

Dutilh United Methodist Church is seeking a creative, organized, and mission-minded Director of Communications & Marketing to help tell our story and strengthen our connection with our congregation and surrounding community. This role is ideal for someone who loves combining faith, creativity, and strategy to advance the mission of the church.

About the Role

The Director of Communications & Marketing is responsible for leading all internal and external communications for Dutilh Church. This includes branding, marketing, advertising, digital media, and storytelling across print, web, email, and social platforms. The position works closely with the Senior Pastor, church staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers to ensure consistent, engaging, and mission-centered communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy that reflects Dutilh’s core values: Love God, Love Others, Love to Serve

  • Create and manage content for e-newsletters, email, bulletin, website, social media, flyers, and other communication channels

  • Tell the story of Dutilh Church through original content such as press releases, ministry highlights, annual report, and feature stories

  • Manage and update the church website (Squarespace) and oversee social media strategy

  • Create and distribute the weekly E-News and manage distribution lists

  • Develop graphic design assets for sermon series, campaigns, events, and ministries

  • Coordinate community visibility efforts and church participation in local events

  • Ensure consistent use of branding and marketing guidelines

  • Manage the annual communications/marketing budget

  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteer communications team members

    Qualifications

  • A committed follower of Jesus Christ

  • Prior experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or advertising

  • Proficiency (or willingness to learn) in Microsoft Office, Canva, Squarespace, Mailchimp, Planning Center, and social media platforms

  • Strong written, visual, and organizational skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a church and team environment

  • Ability to recruit and lead volunteers

  • PA Act 33 & 34 clearances and FBI fingerprinting required

Schedule

The 30-hour per week position offers a hybrid and flexible work schedule, with at least two days in the office each week, one of which must include Tuesday afternoons. The balance of the time can be worked from home. Attendance at some church events and activities is required.

Compensation

$27,000–$32,000 annually for a 30-hour-per-week, part-time salaried position, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include 2 weeks paid vacation, 10 paid holidays, and matching 403b.
