Santa’s First Stop
by Rob Lynch, Director of Traditional Music
While trick or treaters have not yet visited our homes, Dutilh Music Ministry has already been hard at work on all things Christmas. As we prepare for the season of Advent, our annual Christmas Cantata, and Christmas Eve, another holiday staple is only a month away: Santa’s First Stop.
We’ve once again had the privilege of being asked to help spread the holiday cheer with our caroling. This year’s festivities are being held outdoors on the new lawn at the Cranberry Municipal Center and the choir will be on stage caroling throughout. As such, we’re going to have a few rehearsals before the big guy in red rolls into town on Friday, November 20th.
Thursdays in November (11/5, 11/12, and 11/19) at 8pm in the Sanctuary, we’re going to run through our set for the night. This is an open invitation to everyone in the church to come and sing some fun Christmas tunes. We won’t be singing any Cantata repertoire; it’s all the Christmas classics you already know. We simply want to be well-rehearsed and ready to spread some cheer with all of Cranberry Township.
So stop by the organ after worship, send me an email (rlynch@dutilhumc.org), or just show up on a Thursday night in November to sing some carols you definitely won’t hear on Christmas Eve. There's a book of songs with your name on it!
