Preschool Teacher Spotlight

Our Dutilh Preschool teachers have fun every day that they get to teach the kids during class, and we wanted to get to know a little bit more about their favorite Dutilh Preschool activities, so we asked them!

Here is what they had to say:

Christi Karcher

3-Year-Old and 4-Year-Old Program Teacher (Orange Room)

“One of my favorite activities to do with my preschool students is our learning center rotations. I love being able to work closely with each child in a smaller group, helping them build skills, grow in confidence, and make meaningful connections to what we are learning. It also gives me a chance to really get to know each student’s strengths and areas for growth, all while they are engaged in fun, hands-on activities.”

Lori Carr

3-Year-Old and 4-Year-Old Program Teacher (Green Room)

“One of my favorite parts of the preschool day is circle time, because it sets a warm, welcoming tone for our day. We begin by coming together and sharing a prayer and our Bible verse for the month. During calendar, we explore many math skills in a fun and engaging way—counting, recognizing numbers, and patterns. We also practice our literacy skills by exploring letters and their sounds, the alphabet, and breaking words into syllables. We love to dance, sing, and celebrate special occasions. We end our circle time with a poem and a story where we practice our listening and rhyming skills. Circle time helps us come together, focus, and prepare for our day!”

Sonya Snow

5-Year-Old Program Teacher (Blue Room)

“One of my favorite things about the 5-year program is the Gingerbread Event we hold every year close to Christmas. It’s a special event for the children and two special people in their lives. The families spend the morning together creating some pretty amazing gingerbread houses while they create memories together...and sneak some candy! I love seeing the creativity of each house - they are all different and they are always creative and some really showcase the personalities of the kids. It’s a morning filled with love, creativity, cookies, candy and fun! I love the memories these families get to make together while being a part of the 5-year-old programs family.”
