Kick-Off to Fall Food Drive
By: Leigha Pindroh, Director of Communications
This Sunday, November 2nd, kicks off our annual Fall Food Drive! Twice a year, our Food Ministry Team works hard to gather food items to support families in our community who need help putting food on the table.
Last year, we began our partnership with Inspired Hearts & Hands (IH2)—a local nonprofit dedicated to addressing economic hardship and food insecurity through food box distributions, community events, educational programs, and more. IH2’s non-perishable food boxes include family-friendly meals, kid-friendly snacks, and a grocery gift card for fresh proteins and ingredients. These boxes are distributed several times each year, especially during the holidays when expanded support is most needed. Each one provides components for 5–6 essential meals, plus a $10 grocery card for fresh items.
In addition to supporting IH2, our congregation will also be collecting nonperishable food items for VOICE, a nonprofit emergency shelter providing 30-day temporary housing for women and their children fleeing domestic violence.
Over the next two weeks, we’ll be collecting items in the church vestibule to prepare for our packing day at IH2. If you’re able, please consider donating from our list of needed items here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0945AEAE23A5F9C16-59398710-fall#/
Our volunteer team will help pack boxes at IH2’s facility on Sunday, November 16th. This is always a rewarding experience—one that reminds us how much good we can do together. We’re grateful for the ongoing support of our congregation and the many ways we continue to Do Good and care for our neighbors in need—this season and all year long!
