Thank You

By: Robin Mullin, Director of Dutilh Preschool

“Thank you.”  It’s such a simple phrase we use every day, yet do we really mean it?  We say it so frequently, to a cashier, a stranger who holds the door at a restaurant, or a child who remembers their manners.  The words carry so much meaning.

Gratitude is powerful and can change your attitude and soften your heart.  We rush around in our daily lives we often forget to stop to appreciate the people who support us.  Our families, friends and our coworkers are all such an important part of our lives.  In the busyness of life, a small “thank you” can brighten their day and ours.

Our gratitude shouldn’t stop there, above all, we should remember to thank our Creator.  In 1 Thessalonians 5:18  we are reminded to “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  Gratitude draws us closer to God, helping us see His handiwork in every detail of our lives.

So today, let’s be intentional about saying “thank you.”  Let’s show appreciation not just with words, but through acts of kindness, patience, and love.  Let’s thank the people God has placed in our lives and thank Him for placing them there.  When we live with grateful hearts, we reflect His goodness in all we do.

Take a moment today to pause and offer a sincere “thank you” to those around you, and to the One who makes every blessing possible.
